Keith Bain’s latest installment fits rather nicely with the Coco de Mer gift set we’re offering today, though with slightly bigger feather dusters
Cape Town prepares for the biggest dress-up party in Africa this weekend, when the annual Mother City Queer Project (MCQP) happens Saturday night at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The theme for this year’s much-anticipated installment is “Maid in China”.
The straight-friendly queer-themed all-night party this year features nine different dance floors, with live acts, drag acts, and a variety of urban genres vying for the attention of thousands of tarted-up muscle ninjas, Hello Kitty queens, Gay-sha girls (and boys), panda bears, and Taiwanese trannies. It’s an anything-goes extravaganza, starting with a red carpet welcome, numerous bars, many of the city’s best DJs, and even a Bel Ami movie room where 32 models from the world’s most successful gay porn studio will be in attendance. There’ll also be a Kung Fu film studio for those who prefer kicks to kink. Tickets are available through Computicket, and you can peruse the dance-floor line-ups, fine-print, and galleries of pictures from last year’s “Flower Power” event at www.mcqp.co.za.
